Capacity development for municipal financing

Capacity Development is key to addressing financing issues at local level. Political stakeholders as well as city administrations need in-depth knowledge to mobilise and access multiple financing instruments. Capacity development is needed to improve cities ability to manage and operate similar projects in a sustainable and efficient way in the future.

Goal

Based on the experiences of the Cities Finance Facility (CFF) approach to capacity development, this tools aims to help cities identify their capacity gaps and needs as well provide a initial overview of existing tools and trainings available from external partners.

Tasks

Step 0. Gain an overview of financing/funding options in your city
Step 1. Understand core competencies and the different levels of capacity development
Step 2. Identify needs and gaps in your local context for all different levels
Step 3. Develop initial ideas of how to close these development capacity needs
Step 4. Outlook of possible trainings / resources
